Repairs to Roof St. Fintan’s Church Raheen

St. Fintan’s Church Renovation Project

Please Sponsor a Slate

Certificates on sale at €25 per slate. €100 for a corporate slate

The old thatched chapel of Raheen was erected in 1729, the site having been granted by the Protestant Baldwin family after Mr Baldwin had witnessed a gathering of poor people for mass in a deep pit, named thereafter, the Mass Pit. The thatched chapel was used up to 1860. This humble structure was replaced by the present substantial church. The blue stone used in the building of St. Fintan’s was brought by horse and cart from a quarry at Newtown, Ballyroan, Co. Laois.

This 150 year old building has served the people well. We wish to  continue that great tradition but as you may be aware the Church is in need of Major repairs, especially the Roof. So substantial funds have to be raised and that’s why we need your help and support.

In purchasing a slate by sponsorship you will receive a Special Certificate, plus, your name or names will be entered into a special Ledger, which will be located in the church, and each year at Christmas and Easter Mass will be offered for all donors. You may also purchase a slate in memory of a loved one. The Ledger will have a special section for deceased family members and friends. We are aware of and are depending on, the great tradition of support and generosity of our parishioners and friends at home and abroad. We are proud of this Church and our Parish and with the support  of parishiones and friends of Raheen Parish, we the Parish Council feel well equipped to successfully undertake this project.

Both your encouragement and support is needed and appreciated.

If anybody would like to help by selling  Slates for the Parish, please contact the Parish off ice on 057 8731182

Much appreciated.

Raheen Parish Pastoral Council.
